A witness in the 800 block of 15 Avenue discovered a man attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a van.
The witness described the suspect as a white male and stated he fled the scene in a small Mazda or Ford pick-up.
Police discovered that the 2000 Ford Econoline van had "a single linear cut just forward of the catalytic converter," according to the Longmont Police Department. The catalytic converter was still in place.
Police are investigating the incident.
