A 33-year-old man from Arvada crashed his Lexus SUV at the intersection of Co-119 and Hover Street on Sunday. The man and five others were injured in the crash.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, the man from the Lexus traveled at a high rate of speed along CO-119 coming from Boulder. As he approached Hover Street he was seen passing other vehicles on the shoulder, according to a report from the Longmont Police Department.

The man struck the median and lost control of the vehicle. The Lexus crossed all eastbound lanes of Co-119 before striking the median a second time, crossing the median and crossing traffic from the opposite lanes.

Parts of the Lexus came off of the vehicle and struck a Porsche SUV that was traveling westbound. The driver of the Porsche SUV was uninjured.

As the Lexus continued to cross westbound traffic it struck a full-size Dodge Ram in a head-on collision, the police report states. The Dodge Ram — which was occupied by a family of five — was forced off the road and caught fire. The Lexus rolled and then stopped, the police state.

The family in the Dodge Ram suffered injuries ranging from serious life-threatening to moderate. The driver of the Lexus was partially ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious life-threatening injuries.

The family and the Lexus driver were taken to nearby hospitals where they were treated for their injuries.

Police suspect that drugs, alcohol and speed contributed to the crash, the report states.

The date of the crash was corrected.
