Boulder County unemployment rates remain low

In data collected for 2022, the unemployment rate in Boulder County dropped to 2.6%

During the pandemic, unemployment rates soared. Over the last few years, the Boulder County unemployment rate has slowly dropped.

In 2020, the county’s unemployment rate was 5.3% which was still lower than the state average of 6.3% or the national average of 7.3%. 

In data collected for 2022, the unemployment rate in Boulder County dropped to 2.6% which is still below the national average of 3.6% and the state average of 2.8%.

The unemployment rate has remained below 3%, according to a news release from Workforce Boulder County.

Also in 2020, more than 19,000 people claimed unemployment. The number dropped significantly to 7,057 people in 2021 but rose in 2022 to 7,234.

In 2020, the county reports that there were around 48,000 jobs available. The number rose in 2021 to over 50,000, however, 2022 saw a significant decrease in jobs available with only 41,000.
