Reliable Towing, located at 907 S. Sherman in Longmont, will be featured on “Rocky Mountain Wreckers.” The show is a docuseries commissioned by The Weather Channel and showcases the extreme work towing workers perform.

Ciaran Loomis, owner of Reliable Towing which has been in Longmont for 22 years, said the towing industry often gains a bad reputation for impounding cars. When approached with this TV opportunity, Loomis thought it might be a good way to highlight the rescue efforts his towing company participates in.

“Rocky Mountain Wreckers captures the real peril and drama inherent in some of the most dangerous jobs in the world, set amongst some of America’s most breathtaking landscapes,” GPM president David Way said in a news release. “Not only do the companies we follow do some of the most challenging and unbelievable recoveries, but the series’ documentary subjects are also immensely entertaining and will make for great television.”

“We wanted to do it to kinda experience it,” Loomis said, adding everyone on his team had a say in the decision.

Reliable Towing does large towing recoveries with a large fleet of heavy wreckers, according to Loomis. One of the first shoots for the show included winching out a 170,000-pound excavator in Canon City, Loomis said.

“We specialize in large recovery,” Loomis said. “We actually rescue people when you are in a bad position and are there to help you out.”

The show is expected to air this fall.
