It’s been a long-awaited ribbon cutting for Take 5 Oil Change franchise owner Kelly Mayer.

Mayer owns two other Take 5 stores in Loveland and Arvada, but opening the Longmont location at 2255 Main Street in the building formerly occupied by Pizza Hut has taken him the longest.

“We’ve been working on it for two years, pretty much since the building became available,” he said.

Mayer finally got to celebrate the store’s grand opening at a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.  In recognition of the building’s history, Mayer made sure to have plenty of freshly delivered Pizza Hut pies on hand.

“I’ve heard people talk about the history of this place and how they used to hang out here when they were in high school. I thought this was a way to show respect for the space we now occupy,” Meyer said.

Take 5 Oil Change provides customers with a full-service oil change while they wait inside their vehicle.

“We hand them a cold bottle of water, give them friendly service and then get them on their way in ten or eleven minutes,” Mayer explained.

Mayer was initially drawn to the customer service aspects of the business.

“People don’t usually write reviews about an oil change, but we have all these customers writing about their great experiences. Maybe that says something about what people expect from automotive service more generally, but it’s important to me that people leave here feeling good. We are part of the community, and we want to be a positive addition in every way possible,” Meyer said.

Take 5 Oil Change is open early, late and on the weekends. They are offering special discounts at the Longmont location for the next few months to mark the grand opening.

“We’re excited to be here. It’s been a long process, and we’re so happy to be able to open the doors in Longmont,” Meyer said
