Broomfield Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer Sam Taylor is leaving the economic development organization in early May to take a job with a Lafayette nonprofit.
Taylor, who started at the chamber in July 2017, said he wasn’t looking for a new opportunity, but one presented itself regardless. He will leave the Chamber on May 6 to start working as director of community and employment services for Imagine!, a nonprofit that provides services for people with disabilities.
The move felt like a natural transition, Taylor said, and he’s been involved with Imagine! for more than 20 years.
“One of the really big problems with businesses these days is workforce and getting labor,” Taylor said. “That really ties into what I’ve been working on with businesses, which is helping people be employed and helping people find others to hire.”
Taylor described his tenure at the Chamber as “a very weird time.”
“When I took over the Chamber was not in the greatest of shape and I was busy building it up, because it’s a great community willing to support the business community and get involved, and then Covid hit,” Taylor said. “That really changed the dynamic and we were just doing whatever we could to help people survive.”
The Chamber is now accepting applications for the new president and CEO, said spokesperson Pat Monacelli.
