Hot fun in the summertime is on tap this Friday during the Family Fun Day & Resource Fair organized by nonprofit Broomfield FISH at Midway Park from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

“Family Fun Day is an event that's free and open to the community, Communications and Media Manager for FISH Maggie Sava said.

Along with an array of games, food and prizes the event also provides an opportunity for families to connect with a host of community nonprofit groups, city departments and rescue agencies.

“We have 20 partners who are going to be there,” she said.

These include: Broomfield Open Space and Trails Department, Broomfield Sustainability, Broomfield Transportation, the North Metro Fire Rescue District, the Broomfield Library, Pflag Broomfield, Broomfield Early Childhood Council, Community Food Share, Sustainable Broomfield, Colorado Legal Services, BackStory Theatre, Hunger Free Colorado, SPAN (Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence), inventHQ, A Precious Child, Nymbl Science, Team Select Home Care, ThriveColorado.org, The Center For People With Disabilities and Benefits in Action.

The wealth of resources eclipses the offerings in prior years, with past installments of the event contained on the Broomfield FISH main office front lawn at 6 Garden Center.

“We’re actually holding it at (adjacent) Midway Park, so we can accommodate more partners,” she said. “We’re not really going that far and it's really easy to find for our building.”

In addition to Kona Ice vending chill snakes, and DJ music, partnering organizations will feature interactive activities for kids.

“There's gonna be a puppet show, coloring activities, crafts and button making,” she said. “There's really a wide variety of activities for families and kids to participate in while they're connecting with these different partners.”
