Residents who hold accounts at the Broomfield Library may have received a phone call from a library number. City and county officials warn that this is a scam.
The recorded message announces that the recipient "owes money and needs to immediately pay to access their account," a Facebook from the city and county of Broomfield states.
According to the post, no Broomfield Library employee will ever call residents to ask for payment over the phone.
Local officials encourage library patrons to call the Broomfield Police Department at 303-438-6400 if such a call is received. The police department will assist callers in verifying the information given in the call.
