The National Weather Service, or NWS, has issued a warning for strong and damaging winds beginning today.
NWS expects the peak of the wind event in the late morning or early afternoon, however, high winds are expected as early as 7 a.m. Wind gusts will be widespread, potentially clocking in around 55-70 mph, however, some areas of the foothills could see gusts nearing 100 mph, according to the NWS website.
While most of the day is expected to be windy, NWS predicts that winds could decrease rather quickly into the evening hours.

NWS suggests avoiding travel on Wednesday when possible. If driving is unavoidable, make sure to leave extra time to get to the destination.
It is also important to avoid outdoor activities the involve fire, as it could spread quickly, according to NWS. The weather organization also suggests patio furniture and outdoor decorations be secured or moved indoors.
Boulder Office of Emergency Management advises individuals to have a plan in place for potential power outages. This includes one gallon of water per person in the household each day, a supply of non-perishable flood, a flashlight with fresh batteries and a charged cell phone.
