Life Skills Fair for Tweens and Teens
The City of Longmont’s Children, Youth and Families division is hosting a Life Skills Fair from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30 at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road in Longmont! Youth ages 11-17 are invited to gain skills, discover career paths and enjoy music and giveaways. Exhibits will include practical skill instruction, interactive games and access to City resources and job opportunities. Admission is free. Follow City progress on Longmont Indicators
Are you interested in seeing how the City of Longmont is doing on its goals for sustainability, transportation, housing, economic development and livable neighborhoods? Now you can track City progress these areas, Envision Longmont, and more at Longmont Indicators. The new bilingual website shares this information in multiple ways, including annual Citywide indicators, action status updates, and greenhouse modeling with the scenario tool. Summary reports are available on the Indicators landing page, and the next Sustainability and Climate Action annual report will be posted on the site by the end of March. "The Ugly Duckling" at Longmont Museum
The beloved children’s tale, “The Ugly Duckling,” comes to life in the form of the Colorado Symphony’s “Mini Música” – a free interactive, bilingual educational concert for young audiences – Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Through lively storytelling and orchestral performances, children will learn valuable lessons about self-discovery, acceptance, and the beauty of being unique. Astronomy Night & Star Party
Take a journey through our solar neighborhood and learn about the planets and beyond from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29 at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Enjoy an indoor presentation by Hunter Morrison from the Longmont Astronomical Society, followed by outdoor star viewing (weather permitting). $4/person suggested donation. Apply now for the Longmont Police Department Professional Standards Review Panel
The Longmont City Manager is currently accepting applications for volunteer positions on the Longmont Police Department Professional Standards Review Panel. Applicants must be a qualified elector of the City of Longmont, have no felony convictions, and have no misdemeanor convictions within the five years prior to appointment. Current employees of any law enforcement agency and immediate family members of a Longmont Police Department employee are not eligible to apply. Submit applications to the City Clerk’s Office, 350 Kimbark St., by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 19. Details available at the Public Safety webpage or 303-651-8649.
NEW: Library expanded map collection
Explore new horizons by using the Longmont Library's Maps Collection! Whether you're a traveler, historian, or simply curious, dive into the depths of geography and cartography. Hiking, backpacking, river/lake fishing, travel maps, state park and national park maps and more are available for FREE at the Library. One patron recently used the Adventure Map of New Zealand while touring the island by camper van! Browse the collection online or head upstairs to browse the collection in-person.
Gathering for childcare providers
If you provide childcare to family members, friends or neighbors, this gathering is for you! Join us from 8:30 am-1:30 pm on Saturday, April 6 at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave. You’re invited to come together, share your experiences, and connect with resources and support networks. The gathering will feature engaging focus groups, a resource fair, and a chance to connect with other providers. The goal is to empower you to continue providing quality care to the children in your communities. The event is free to both unlicensed and licensed childcare providers. Library Peeps Diorama Exhibit
Create a literary-themed diorama with PEEPs and enter it into the Longmont Library’s exhibit! Build your creation now and hand it in from March 14-21 with your entry form (pick yours up at the Library or download it at bit.ly/LibPrograms). Dioramas will be displayed in the Library’s lobby from March 22-29. Each diorama will be entered into a drawing for prizes (one for each category: Adults (14+), Tween (9-13) or Kids (8 and younger)). Underwater Easter Egg Hunt
Calling egg hunters of all abilities to search for Easter eggs in our pool! Eggs will be distributed throughout the leisure and lap pools between 5-7:30 pm on Saturday, March 30 at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road.
