Just over 22% of Colorado’s population is Latino or Hispanic, most of whom state their understanding of the English language is limited. When it comes to their children’s health it is important they can make complex medical decisions and Children’s Hosptial is there to help.

The Clínica de Cirugía Pediátrica is the first Spanish-speaking pediatric surgery clinic in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. The clinic was founded by José Díaz-Mirón, MD, who is a native Spanish speaker. Not only does Díaz-Mirón help families navigate complex medical issues, he is one of the pediatric surgeons for all types of conditions.

The clinic works with patients who primarily speak Spanish. It offers these folks a chance to have a surgical evaluation by a pediatric surgeon in their native language. It also offers families access to Children’s Colorado Hospital’s high level of care and team of experts, according to the clinic’s website.

The clinic often sees patients who suffer from appendicitis, severe obesity, hernias, chest wall deformities, pediatric trauma and burns and congenital abdominal wall defects.

Those seeking a consult at the clinic must be referred by a doctor at Children’s Colorado or a family doctor. Two in-person consultation days will be offered at Children's Hospital Colorado and the North Campus location in Broomfield each month.
