Colorado Gives Day ongoing until Dec. 6

Colorado Gives Day, the annual donation drive for nonprofits statewide, was expanded this year to launch on Nov. 1 and culminate on Dec. 6.

Colorado Gives Day, the annual donation drive for nonprofits statewide, was expanded this year to launch on Nov. 1 and culminate on Dec. 6.

Traditionally held on the first Tuesday in December, online donations made at anytime prior to or on Dec. 6 will be matched proportionally from an incentive fund totaling $1.4 million.

Community First Foundation, FirstBank and other Colorado community partners are backing the funding match.

Since 2010, Colorado Gives Day has raised more than $362 million for nonprofits across the state.

In Broomfield seven nonprofits have teamed up to enhance their outreach efforts, according to Broomfield FISH spokesperson Maggie Sava.

Besides FISH, the list includes: Bal Swan Children’s Center, FRIENDS of Broomfield, Broomfield Council on the Arts & Humanities, CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties and A Precious Child.

“We come together every year around Colorado Gives Day to work together to build awareness and celebrate our sense of community,” she said. “It’s kind of one big family all serving Broomfield.”

After raising $127,000 in 2020 and $119,000 in 2021, Sava said FISH officials are hoping to net a comparable figure this year.

“We’d love to get that same number because we're seeing just as much, if not more, need at this time this year than we were this time last year,” she said.

As part of the fundraising effort, on Dec. 6 the Caring for Broomfield organizations will hold a dine-out night at Old Chicago at 3909 E 120th Ave, from 4-8 p.m.

“We have a flier posted online that folks can bring with them if they want a portion of their meals donated back to the nonprofit participating,” she said. “We’re also giving out one free New Belgium beer for all the folks 21 years and older who show the flyers.”
