DA to host gun violence prevention forum

Community leaders will serve as panelists to discuss a range of topics

District Attorney Michael Dougherty will host a public forum Oct. 22 to discuss gun violence prevention.

The event will be held at the Longmont Museum at 400 Quail Road. Doors will open at 2:15 p.m. and the forum begins at 2:30 p.m.

Community leaders will serve as panelists to discuss a range of topics regarding gun violence prevention, including legislation on gun laws, gun violence that we are experiencing in the community, and the increase in youth violence and gang violence, a news release said.. The panelists will also answer questions from members of the public, which should be submitted in advance by email.

The community leaders and panelists at this forum will include Boulder County Commissioner Marta Loachamin, Longmont Police Chief Jeff Satur, State Representative Karen McCormick, and Artist and Community Advocate Gamma Acosta. Additionally, there will be introductory video remarks from Congressman Joe Neguse.
