There’s no time like the holidays in Colorado when you can’t help but feel the spirit of the season.

Each winter, Longmont is bustling with seasonal celebrations to keep you and your family busy and entertained. Out-of-town guests will enjoy seeing all the area has to offer.

No matter which holidays you and your family observe, there are all kinds of festivities happening around town. You can admire twinkling light displays, go ice skating surrounded by holiday decorations, shop for gifts in a charming holiday pop-up market or feed some reindeer.

The Firehouse Art Center hosts a holiday market on Small Business Saturday and Artists Sunday, falling the weekend after Thanksgiving. Local artists, creators and makers come together and offer unique, handmade gifts you won’t find anywhere else.

Whether you’re looking for hand-knit gloves or beautiful glass Christmas ornaments, you’ll find a bit of everything at the Boulder County Farmer’s Market Annual Winter Market. On Dec. 2 and 3, you can shop from more than 150 different vendors, including ranchers, farmers and artisans from around the state.

On a cold winter day, you can lace up some skates and enjoy a classic holiday activity at the Longmont Ice Pavilion, which opened on Nov. 17. Skate rentals are available, or you can bring your own.

The holidays are the perfect time to plan a memorable night with the thrill of a live show, and Longmont affords many such opportunities.

The Longmont Symphony Orchestra (LSO) and the Boulder Ballet will present The Nutcracker on Dec. 2 at the Vance Brand Auditorium. The intimate venue is perfect for a holiday outing with friends and family.

Persons with sensory needs and their families will appreciate the LSO’s “Gentle Nutcracker,” which provides a quieter, calmer experience so that everyone can enjoy this holiday tradition. The production has been shortened to hold the attention of neurodiverse audiences.

The Longmont Museum’s 8th Annual Holiday Show takes place on Dec. 2. Join the Mestas-Abbott Quartet, Brothers of Brass and Mollie O’Brien & Rich Moore as they present songs of the season. A cash bar will be serving up holiday cheer and seasonal drinks.

The young and the young at heart will enjoy Santa Storytime at the Longmont Museum on Dec. 9. Grab some cookies and hot chocolate and pull up a chair to hear Santa Claus share some seasonal stories. Don’t forget to bring your holiday wish list!

Children ages five and older can bring their adults along to make some holiday ornaments at the Longmont Museum on Dec. 16. Kids and adults will be crafting, painting and sharing holiday cheer as they make something to keep for years to come.

Nothing feels more like Christmas than a visit with Santa’s reindeer. Come see the animals at Murdoch’s on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Photos are encouraged, and children can learn to make reindeer snacks. While there, kids can write a letter to Santa or color a holiday picture and experience the magic of the season.
