The Longmont Housing Authority received a high performance rating from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, despite a technical issue in one of the indicators.

The housing authority submitted its Section Eight Management Assessment Program for evaluation in February, in which Longmont calculated a 98% rating, equal to high performance. Housing and Urban Development checked those numbers, staff explained to the housing authority board on Tuesday, and gave Longmont a zero in one of the 14 indicators for their housing management.

Staff said that because of a technology glitch, the computer program with the information for that indicator was missing. HUD did not contact the housing authority about the missing information, instead giving it a zero, which brought the rating down to a 92%.

However, this is still a high performance rating so HUD would not let the housing authority appeal the rating. Staff also noted that in another area, the housing authority gave themselves a zero but HUD gave them a high mark.

They also said that the department was pleased with the progress the Longmont Housing Authority was making to improve its performance.
