Longmont City Council is expected to adopt an amended water supply and water shortage implementation plan at Tuesday’s meeting.

The plan is annually reviewed and accepted by city council, with staff reviewing the city’s current and projected water supply status with the Longmont Water Board on a monthly basis.

Last year, the water board recommended to council that the city remain at a sustainable conservation level response, which council agreed with in May 2022. Longmont remains at that response level at this time.

According to a staff memo, Longmont is expected to have sufficient water supplies for 2023 through 2025 to meet customer water demands.

Staff project Longmont’s 2023 supply to be 141% of demand at the current conservation level. Next year, the city’s water supply is projected to be at 140%.

City staff also continue to implement demand management strategies, the memo noted.
