Over the years, OUT Boulder County, or OBC, — a nonprofit organization that facilitates connection, advocates, educates and conducts research to support a thriving LGBTQ+ community — has primarily served Boulder County and the surrounding area. On Tuesday the organization announced it will expand its services to Larimer and Weld counties.

“We have always provided services outside of Boulder County, and people have always traveled to us to access services and activities … Our staff, Board of Directors, and Strategy Committee have discussed this reality for years, and in 2019, our Board of Directors updated our mission statement in a few meaningful ways, including by adding that we serve ‘Boulder County and Beyond,’” stated the organization’s newsletter.

OBC plans to create new programming but not replace programming already established in the new areas. Its initial approach will stem from its youth programming that already serves youth from northern Colorado and Wyoming, according to the newsletter.

Behavioral health programs will also be expanded into northern Colorado. These programs offer short-term individual therapy, case management and referrals to long-term providers for LGBTQ+ clients.
