Former Erie Middle School teacher, Michelle Sulek, is running for District E of the St. Vrain Valley Board of Education.

Sulek is a Colorado native who graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. There she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Educations with a minor in Spanish Studies.

She has lived in Longmont for 18 years with her husband — a retired Air Force Lt. Col. — and her three children — all of whom graduated from SVVSD schools.

Sulek has spent time giving back to the community by serving as the president of the St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation, a member of the I Have a Dream Foundation board and a parent liaison for Leadership St. Vrain.

“I am dedicated to our mission to be an exemplary school district which inspires and promotes high standards of learning and student well-being in partnership with parents, guardians and the community,” Sulek said in her run statement.

If elected, she hopes to influence the strategic use of resources to support teachers. She also wants to continue the district’s drive to prepare students for future careers.

“I have a vested interest in the School District and love honoring teachers and supporting students. Strong Schools are the foundation of Strong Communities,” Sulek said.
