Annual water line flushing begin April 22

The City of Longmont’s Water Line Flushing Program is scheduled to happen from Monday, April 22 through Friday, May 17 (dates subject to change). The flushing will begin in the north of the City and work its way south and west and then finishing the program in the City’s eastern areas. During the flushing, residents may notice low water pressure, discolored water or no water for short periods of time. Residents are recommended to limit water use and particularly avoid using hot water when flushing is occurring in your immediate area. The water continues to be safe to use and to drink. Poetry reading at Library: April 24

Join Lafayette's first poet laureate ZBassSpeaks for a culturally infused poetry reading from 6:30-7:30 pm on Wednesday, April 24 at the Longmont Library, 409 4th Ave. The Colorado-born poet has been speaking/performing on social issues and to promote unity, literacy, and creativity through poetry. Earth Day at Sandstone Ranch

The Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center, 3001 Sandstone Dr, is a historic property that was first homesteaded in 1860 by the Coffin family. It includes hands-on displays of environmental features of the area, a nature trail and scenic overlook. Celebrate Earth Day from 10 am-1 pm on Saturday, April 20 with a variety of nature activities and exploration. A suggested donation of $4/individual or $9/family is appreciated. The Visitors Center is open to the public from 10 am-2 pm on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. Learn more at the Sandstone Events webpage or call 303-651-8404.

New resources for early childhood education

The City of Longmont’s Children, Youth and Families division has launched a new website dedicated to early childhood education. It provides information and resources both for families seeking educational opportunities and for people exploring a career in early childhood education. Families and caregivers can use an interactive map to locate early childhood providers in Longmont that meet specific criteria.

Film at Longmont Museum: "Smoke Signals"

This Thursday night, April 18, at 7 pm at the Longmont Museum, join us for “Smoke Signals” (1998, PG). Filmed on the Coeur d’Alene Reservation in northwestern Idaho, screenwriter Sherman Alexie’s screenplay has been lauded by Indigenous communities for its authenticity. It follows two young men who reluctantly band together to retrieve their father’s ashes. Offered in conjunction with the Museum’s “Picturing the West” exhibit. Free Seed Library

Gardening doesn’t have to be expensive. Crime-Free Housing training

The next Longmont Crime Free Housing Program training has been scheduled for 9 am-5 pm on Wednesday, May 22 at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave. The Crime Free Housing Program is a free class designed to help rental property owners and managers keep illegal activity off property. The purpose is to educate the owners and their residents to improve the quality of life in these neighborhoods by reducing crime. To register, visit our website to learn more.
