NEWS RELEASE
BROOMFIELD FISH
*************************
Local Broomfielders Kurt Sava, Dawson Kusel, Brennan Morris, Grant Miller, R.J. Shamberger, Mike Lutz, and Ryan Steele are lending their basketball skills to help bring attention to Broomfield FISH’s mission and the impact of monthly giving during FISH’s March Madness basketball skills tournament.
Through the end of the month, people can show their support for any of the players by visiting their fundraising page at www.coloradogives.org/event/Marchmadness2023 and setting up a monthly gift. The number of donations each competitor receives will earn them advantages in the tournament, which FISH will film on March 30th and share online the following week.
Since its founding in 1963, FISH has been a vital community resource. While the organization is best known as a food pantry, they also provide services such as emergency rent, utilities, and transportation assistance, referrals to partner organizations, and strengths-based, one-on-one support to over 12,000 unduplicated people per year.
Over the course of the next month, FISH is building their “FISH Fan Club” of monthly donors to provide critical and reliable funds needed to sustain their programs. Community support is important now more than ever, as the high cost of housing and groceries, paired with a decrease in SNAP benefits and other pandemic relief efforts, are making it even harder for low-income residents to make ends meet. Last year, FISH served over 12,500 unduplicated people, distributed over 1.4 million pounds of food, and helped stabilize over 1,200 residents in housing.
Monthly giving helps FISH feed families and keep them housed throughout the year! With giving options starting at $5 a month, it is a convenient, budget-friendly way to give and provide consistent funds to assist families at times when it is most needed. As one FISH participant shares, “Being a refugee and being here from thousands of miles away, it is difficult to establish a life. FISH’s support has been instrumental in supplying food and other financial services. It helped me take care of the basics of life.”
When setting up a monthly gift, donors can customize the amount to make sure it works for them. Any amount adds up to make a huge impact on FISH’s work over the course of a year. Monthly giving is also one of the easiest ways to plan out your donations. Just set it up and let it run! That way, donors know exactly how much they are giving each month and can plan for it.
Cheer on your champion AND support our neighbors in need by setting up a gift today at https://www.coloradogives.org/event/Marchmadness2023!
