Broomfield middle schoolers seeking after-class activities have a new recreation option at the Community Center.

The city has announced that all Broomfield middle school students can now gain free access to the Paul Derda Recreation Center at the Broomfield Community Center.

Students can present school I.D. for no-cost entry Monday through Friday from 3-5 p.m.

Recreation Supervisor Matthew Gulley said the center has always been a draw for area youths.

“We’ve had a fair amount of kids using the facility,” he shared.

Looking to provide safe and fun after-school destinations, the Broomfield Communities that Care Coalition and Broomfield Recreation Services combined on the venture.

Socialize and complete homework in lobby area rooms with free wi-fi access.

To burn off pent up energy, students can make use of an indoor track, and two full-court gymnasiums. Pool areas will also be open dependent on staffing.
