On Saturday, 3rd Shot Pickleball opened its doors with a grand opening event that allowed patrons to play all day for free.

The company opened two locations in November, one in Wheat Ridge and the other at 20 S. Bowen St. in Longmont.

“From leagues to open plays, to drill classes and blacklight events, 3rd Shot Pickleball will have it all! We will have some of the best coaches in Colorado teaching our classes, private and group lessons, and exciting offerings for players of all levels,” says Robert Leonard, Longmont’s General Manager and Co-Owner, “we’re also very excited about our free Learn to Play classes and ability to match players with others of similar skill levels and time availabilities, helping facilitate Pickleball’s ability to connect people within the community.”

Pickleball is a growing sport and many Longmont community members have petitioned the city for more courts. The Longmont location will have five indoor courts.

This new location allows players to reserve courts, participate in open play/drop-ins, sign up for exclusive memberships, private leagues and tournaments and more.

3rd Shot Pickleball is under the leadership of Dale Katechis, the creative force behind Oskar Blues, and Adam Kahn, owner of Meadow Creek Tennis and Fitness Club in Lakewood.

“Beyond falling in love with pickleball myself, I have seen how it has improved people’s lives and grown communities. That’s really what we’re hoping to do here,” Katechis says. “This is a really exciting time for both myself and the sport.”
